With an unimaginable passion for our craft
Kwekerij Tass throughout the years
in a nutshell...
Two years after we took over Calathea Crocata Tassmania cultivation in Den Hoorn, we continued cultivation at our - now so familiar - address on the Middenzwet in Wateringen.
This state-of-the-art growing method resulted in higher production, combined with even more controllable top quality.
Always looking for a new challenge, we made a foray into garden plants for two seasons and won a Glass Tulip Award with the Lilium Formosa White Crane.
We are still quite a bit proud of that.
As we continued to develop our business, we naturally took our visual identity with us. So time for a new corporate identity.
With a slogan we stand by: we make your day!
With a view to expanding our product range, this was a logical step. It's all in the family. So a warm welcome to the Ctenanthe amagris (l) and the Ctenanthe burle marxii.
And there she was, small and fragile. A new member of the Calathea family. But what an elegant beauty this lady had grown into! And she would not go unnoticed...
A plant with so much character deserves a character of its own, we thought. And so the little Tassman was born, modelled on our flagship: the Calathea crocata Tassmania. At first still in black and white, but soon evolved into full colour.
He is now a familiar face along the "veilingroute".
The beginning of the corona pandemic. Borders closed for export and we threatened to have to destroy tens of thousands of plants.
In a fortnight, we transformed the nursery into a veritable mail-order company. Through our webshop, you could have a Tassmania delivered to your hero of the moment with a personal card.
It turned out to be a resounding success.
Cultivation saved and a huge amount of people made happy.
And to thank everyone who contributed to that huge success, we made this video.
We're still speechless.
At first glance something completely different, but with their quirky appearance they fit beautifully into our range.
May we introduce you to the Epiphyllum Anguliger (l) and the Ceropegia.
Into the new year with good news during this corona period and as said, it would not go unnoticed. We won the Glass Tulip Award 2021 with our beautiful Calathea Fusion White in the houseplant green category. Proud!
This one was just too much fun not to include.
And then, all of a sudden, the Fusion White had a stunning brother. With the same distinctive characteristics as its white sister. We'd like to introduce you to the Fusion Yellow. And, umm... if you happen to hear some rustling at night, it just might be the sound of the closing leaves.
An opportunity we simply couldn't let pass. We seized it with both hands and took over part of the cultivation of this fascinating plant.
We are now the proud growers of the Dionaea.
A carnivore, grrrrr...
"Because each of our plants is equally distinctive, we felt they each deserved their own character with their own story.
These cheerful characters were introduced during 'Kom in de Kas' on June 11 and 12, 2022.
With the Mikado (also known as Mikado grass), we've added another beauty to our collection. Always on the lookout for something special, this stunner with its copper-colored spheres on the stems fits perfectly into our assortment.
